Momentum is also something we talk about a lot in projects. Momentum is about building sustained focus long enough to deliver an outcome. And in the age of constant distraction, maintaining focus is hard. Project rhythms, particularly communication rhythms, are the linchpins for great projects.
Balance Internet have developed an eCommerce guide for our online retail and eCommerce customers across Australia and the Asia Pacific called AddAlltocart . We have customers through our offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore that use Addalltocart to assist in asking the right questions around “Communication, rhythm and momentum”.
Below is an extract from Addalltocart which outlines 3 of the questions you should consider when addressing these challenges.
1. Once the supplier has been appointed, what does the meeting schedule look like?
An overall communication plan should be drafted that includes everything from monthly steering committee meeting dates, to fortnightly or weekly project updates, to daily or hourly team huddles required as the project nears launch.
3. How often will the project team and steering committee meet?
This should at least be monthly, but may become fortnightly as the ‘go live’ date draws closer.
9. Will meeting minutes be taken and stored centrally?
Consider centralising meeting minutes, and be careful to avoid the excess use of email to progress discussions.
