Meet Magento Poland_BlogImageMeet Magento Poland is a conference focused on Business, eCommerce, the Magento platform and its ecosystem. Our senior solutions’ architect Sebastian, recently attended the Meet Magento conference in Poland to deliver a talk about Agile Magento Projects on a fixed budget.

The Event & Venue

I had the pleasure to visit the most beautiful city in Poland to attend the Meet Magento 2017 conference. It was the first time this conference was held in the city of Krakow, after recent years of hosting the conference in Warsaw and Poznan.

Located in an old brewery, the conference setup was pretty amazing and it was 2 days full of great presentations, food and interesting conversations with others within the Magento community. I attended the conference to give a presentation about agile Magento projects, you can read more about this here .

The conference was filled with amazing speakers from all around the world. One of the highlights of the first day was a keynote delivered by an experienced Magento Developer, Ben Marks, Magento Evangelist. Ben discussed the positioning of Magento2 with a focus on the recently released Magento 2.2, and the newly integrated B2B functionality including some insights into what will be coming next. The B2B functionality that was released with Magento 2.2 represents a big step forward for Magento, allowing the platform to cater to the massive B2B market which so far has not been able to utilise Magento without major modifications.

The core features include:

  • Company account management; B2B merchants can easily support multiple buyers in an organizational structure
  • Quote engine; allowing customers to create a quote which can later be turned into a cart or order
  • Credit purchases; enable a pay on credit payment method for your B2B customers
  • Customised catalogs and price lists; you as a B2B merchant are able to control products, categories and price lists for customers and companies individually.
  • APIs updated for simple ERP integration
  • Advanced fraud protection, Signyfid is integrated into the Magento core to bring a high end fraud protection service to Magento.

These new features come with the news that Magento was named a B2B leader in Forrester Wave Commerce Report just recently. Read about that here.

It was great to see so many Magento staff attending the event and taking part in the community! Sherrie Rohde, Community Manager, presented on ‘Building an Inclusive Magento Community’. Anton Kril, Lead Architect, hosted workshops on ‘Best Practices of Magento 2 development’. Max Yekaterynenko, Director of Software Development, discussed ‘Open Source Magento 2: What and how?’. All presentations by Magento delivered talks that were especially notable to me. MM17 also provided the perfect opportunity to catch up with our extension provider partners located in Europe, especially Aheadworks and Amasty.

Another talk worth mentioning discussed Magento’s eCommerce Order Management System and its applications for omni-channel solutions, which seem to be increasingly pushing into the Magento space. It’s great to see Magento is ready for this! The technical part of the conference centered on improvements for performance, security and making the Magento2 stack future proof for evolving technology. The business centre of the conference focused highly on customers and seamless shopping experiences with new technology like chatbots and even VR.

To finish off the first day, MM17 hosted a great evening soiree on the first day which was held on a boat on the Vistula river. It was the perfect opportunity to follow up with all the incredible professionals I met over the day and talk all things Magento. I was especially interested in speaking with other agencies to learn more about how they work and approach the challenges and opportunities of the Magento2 platform.
